Welcome to my new blog ! I love reading other blogs so I wanted to share some things I am working on. I wanted to create some accountability for myself as well. If I start sharing my quilting projects than it will motivate me. I am a very new quilter actually, a new sewer. I have to admit in high school Home Ec I did not pay attention at all. I thought " I will never need to know this" now all the things I enjoy as an adult revolve around sewing, rug hooking, knitting, cooking essentially making things. My Home Ec teachers would be so surprised - ah I wish I had only paid attention! I love challenges too and reading other blogs so wanted to start this blog so I could participate easily.

I have joined the Maritime Modern Quilt Guild and will be so happy to meet these ladies at the upcoming meeting and sew-in. I will try my best to attend both these August events. I have to get over the fact I am a beginner and just enjoy it. I won't get better until I practice. My goal is to pick projects that suit my skill level and complete them - trying not to have a bunch of quilt projects hanging about just as I still find random yarn on a knitting needles stuffed in a bag. I am turning over a new leaf, YES I am ! I can do this.

I was on vacation recently in Newfoundland and went to a great quilt shop in CBS called PIECEMAKERS. I had a great time vieiwng all the wonderful quilts and picked up some great fabric for a lap quilt for my Dad who really needs something special and a bit of hope too. I picked up some nautical fabrics and fabric that reminded me of Newfoundland. Things that say home to me !

Plus I have some music notes fabrics to add ! I don't have an exact plan but probably mix in solids and alternate squares with hourglass blocks or something to show off the motifs ! I absolutely love the blueberries and I wish I bought more. I am trying to rein in my purchases by buying small amounts but than later say " why did I not get more ?" Who else does this ?

Well hope to get feedback and progress to follow ....

  1. Thanks for sharing your fabric purchases. All wonderful! But I especially love the coastal houses. So glad you joined our little guild. See you tonight! Everyone starts as a beginner and you will learn so much from our group.

  2. Hi Lori... popping over from your comment on my blog. I'd love to answer the question you asked, but your current settings are as a no-reply blogger. If you're not sure what that means or how to change it, just Google it and you'll find step by step tutorials on how to change your settings! :)
